JENNIFER LEIGH SAUER HAS WORKED as a freelance photographer since 1990 and more recently as an author and video producer/editor. Her images and digital video can be found in national magazines, annual reports, on the web, and in books and films. Her work has been used widely for development purposes and to influence legislation regionally and nationally. She also blogs about American tea culture on Bon Teavant.
Prior to her emergence as a photographer in San Francisco, Jen lived and worked in Asia for four years, which inspired her personal and creative vision. Her work has since taken her to Africa, Asia, South America, Europe, and the North Pole. Her still photos appeared in the Academy Award winning short documentary, "Thoth". In 2006, she was the first still photographer and the first woman to win the Bay Area Press Photographers' First Place award in Video Journalism (for "Nurse Midwife in Malawi"). Her first book, The Way to Tea: Your Adventure Guide to San Francisco Tea Culture was published in 2007.
